How To Use a Crypto Wallet

Let’s get through a crypto wallet usage and everything that comes with it. You may find a bunch of different cryptocurrency wallets over the Internet: online, desktop, mobile, hardware, and even paper ones. Well, it’s barely possible to guide every one of them, and most likely, you won’t use all of them. We will take the Exodus app as an example since it’s smooth enough when it comes to user experience.

Step 1: Download the Exodus mobile app

Download the app either for iOS on the App Store or Android on Google Play (depends on what device you are using.) As a reference, we will take iOS flow. Pay attention, since Android flow may be slightly different.

  1. Open the App Store and search for “exodus wallet”. It should pop-up first in the list.
  2. Then tap the “Install” button.
  3. Once downloaded and installed, the Exodus app will appear on your home screen as usual.

Step 2: Create an account

  1. Once opened, Exodus will greet you with a welcome screen. Tap “Get Started” to start creating your account.
  2. The next screen will give you some general tips. Once you pass or skip them, Exodus offers you to proceed with account creation or login in case you already have an account. Tap “Get Started” to finish new account creation.
  3. Congratulations! Now you are ready to get into the features Exodus offers.

Step 3: Navigate the app

Once you logged in, there is a tab on the bottom with three screens to navigate:

Main Screen

Displays the general information on your wallets with balances both in the crypto and USD amount. Tapping the top circle shows your overall portfolio balance, with a change in value during the selected time period. Tapping the specific coin shows you its price fluctuation during the time period chosen, transaction history. There are also two “arrow-like” buttons that allow you to send or receive the asset.

Exchange Screen

Exodus allows you to execute “crypto/crypto” trading operations without moving out assets onto an exchange. The upper field is to select the coin and its amount to trade, the lower field — the coin you want.

Profile Screen

Probably the most complicated one, but still really simple.

“Security” is to get the recovery phrase and add extra protection layers.

“Settings” is to manage notification, sound alerts, displayed fiat currency and wallet restoration (via backup phrase)

“Support” contains “Knowledge Base” and a few ways to reach the support center.

On the very bottom there is a list of available coins. You may either hide or display the preferable ones by tapping the switcher.

Step 4: Backup your account

Get back to the “Profile Screen” enter the “Security” menu. By tapping the “Recovery Phrase” button, you will start the backup phrase obtaining procedure. Follow the instructions to view the 12-word recovery phrase. It is used for account backup in case of app reinstall or to login from another device. The best way to save it is to write down on paper and store wherever it is safe enough. If anyone gets this phrase, he can access your funds.

Final Word

We hope there is some clarity for you now on “how to use a crypto wallet”.
